Sky TV have announced that they will be reducing the footprint of their sattelite beam so that their signal will not be received in Spain |

I was told about this last week, after shelling out on a big dish I am not happy. I guess here in Spain you pays your money and takes your chances just wish I had paid out less money lol. |

it is not true so do not worry. sky dont own any satelllites, they, and all the opther broadcasters just rent frequencies on the satellites. the footprints on the UK TV satellites cannot be changed, only by replacing the the whole satellite. however, Astra, who do own some of the satellites, have moved one of them, Astra 2c, to another location. only the channel FIVES were on this satellite, and so the satellite was severly under used, and woul dbe bettter used at another location. fives channels changeed frequencies, to another satellite and a similar strong beam for spain, so no change in reception. with current satellite technology the footprints cannot really be reduced any more without disrupting reception in scotland, who already require bigger "sky minidishes" then the uk. hope this clears up the matter - unless Superman can post a link to where sky sais they were making changed. hope this helps |
